After Milan, “The desert is not silent” the world traveling gallery of Libyan antiquities and art, when to Geneva, the headquarter of several international institutions.
On 25th October 2003, His Excellency Saif Al Islam Al Qadhafi, President of the Gaddafi International Foundation for Charitable Associations, presided over the opening ceremony of the “Le desert n’est pas silencieux – The desert is not silent” at Passage du Rhone, situated Place Molard in Geneva.
The opening ceremony was attended by several VIPs including Swiss highest authorities, diplomats accredited in Geneva, representatives of Non-Governmental Organizations, journalists and artists. Along the exhibition, the public discovered the most important Greek, Roman and Islamic works from Libya's heritage ever put on public display, which testifies that Libya had participated in creating the modern civilization in spite of its harshness and aridity. The public also enjoy Libyan contemporary paintings including canvases of H.E. Saif Al Islam Al Qadhafi.
“Le desert n’est pas silencieux” stayed in Geneva from 25th October to 5th November 2003 and attracted more than 37 000 visitors. The international and Swiss media gave an echo of satisfaction and admiration.
